Brian J. Sousa is an independent contract appraiser with Edwards, Lien & Toso, Inc., an agricultural appraisal and consulting firm based in Hilmar, CA. He is licensed by the State of California as a Certified General Real Estate Appraiser.  

Brian is a native of Turlock and a graduate of Hilmar High School and Modesto Junior College. Brian earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Managerial Economics with an option in Agricultural Economics from the University of California at Davis in 2003.

Growing up in the central valley, Brian’s involvement in agricultural began at a young age working on his uncle’s almond orchards during harvests and continued through high school as an active FFA member where he was a member of the Hilmar FFA Dairy Cattle Judging Team. While attending UC Davis, Brian was a member of the UC Davis NAMA (National Agri-Marketing Association) Marketing Team.

Brian began his appraisal experience as an intern with Edwards & Lien, Inc. during the summer of 2003. Shortly after graduation, in January of 2004, he joined the Edwards & Lien, Inc. appraisal team. He is currently an Associate member of the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers. He is actively working towards completion of required testing and education for accreditation as an Agricultural Rural Appraiser (ARA), having already completed most of the education requirements. Brian has also been involved with sales research for the annual Land Value Trends publication of the California Chapter ASFMRA since 2004.

Brian has over 6 years of appraisal related experience and has appraised and assisted in appraising, various commercial, industrial, residential, urban transitional and agricultural properties in narrative and form format throughout the greater Central Valley of California. Brian has appraised or assisted in appraising properties for a broad spectrum of clients, including federal and local government agencies, major local, national and international banks, major insurance companies, pension funds, pension fund advisors, attorneys, accountants, corporations, individuals and the head of a multinational corporation.

Brian enjoys traveling, snowboarding and sporting clays shooting among other interests.
